Weekly roundup

I thought that I should rest a bit after running the Great Birmingham Run so this week didn’t see much running.

Friday I had my first run, a short 2.42 miles in 23 minutes 12 seconds. I ran after dark, just after it had stopped raining, so kept to the roads. It was good to be out but I think resting for a few days was certainly a good idea.

Sunday I decided to try my new Inov-8 trail shoes out. I had bought them last month but as I was trying to run on road as much as possible in the lead up to Birmingham I hadn’t had a chance to wear them. So, with the clocks going back, I was up nice and early and running through the fields. The shoes had a good grip on them, even through sludgy leaf piles, but felt a bit sticky on the road. I’ll do a proper review once I’ve worn them a few times.

The run was nice but I chose a hilly route with a large hill before I had even run a mile. In all I ran 2.21 miles in 24 minutes 44 seconds.

So now I’ve ran Birmingham I have to decide what to do next. I’ve signed up for the Stowe Pace Setter 10k and am looking forward to seeing the canicross races that are held before the human only races. I’ll also be helping with my running club’s Start to Run course but apart from that I have nothing planned.

Do you have any recommendations for races I should do in 2015? Any suggestions welcomed!

I read it and… Continue Reading
