Weekly roundup

Not much running this week but what I did was rather fun.

Wednesday I was at my club helping with the Start to Run group. This is a regular 6 week course the club holds to get people running. This was week 5 of the course and by this stage they were up to 2 x 11 minute runs with a minute break in between. Each week the group starts with a discussion on a different topic, this week it was technology and racing, before heading out for the run. It was a really nice group and I enjoyed helping out. We ran just over 2 miles in 24 minutes 41 seconds. Not bad for only 5 weeks of running.

Saturday I went to parkrun for a wet and windy 5k. I thought I’d try and aim for a sub-28 minute run, something I had managed over the summer, but I didn’t quite make it finishing with a time of 28 minutes 47 seconds. I think I need to make sure I spend more time warming up on cold days if I want to get under 28 minutes regularly.

Dog in Wendover WoodsNo running for me on Sunday, instead I went on a long walk in Wendover Woods with my chap and our pup. It was a really beautiful autumnal day with clear blue skies and crisp leaves on the ground and a lovely end to the week.

How To Prevent Running Injury With This Simple Technique

Did you know that one of the most injury prone sports is running? More than rugby, or football, or cycling. In fact, research has estimated that between 30-75% of runners per year will get injured. Why is this? Part of me thinks it because it is so easy to go for a run most runners…
