Footnotes for March

Footnotes for March

A few things that have caught my eye in March.

Yorica Ice cream
Yes, all these ice creams are vegan.

I managed to be in London on the opening day of Yorica, a new dairy, gluten, egg and nut free ice cream bar in Soho, so of course I had to make a detour and try some. It was a chilly day and not really ice cream weather so I opted for their hot shake made with no-nut peanut butter ice cream. It may sound odd to have a hot shake made from ice cream but it really worked. It was like a really thick and creamy hot chocolate, but tasting of peanut butter!

I shall definitely be back in the summer!

Hot Cross Buns

As it was Easter and I love hot cross buns I was really taken with Veggie Runners Hot Cross Bun Caramel Popcorn. The lovely spiciness of hot cross buns with popcorn, yes please.

Instant Pot 7 in 1

I’ve also had my eye taken by an Instant Pot 7 in 1. I’ve been thinking about buying a pressure cooker and a rice cooker for a while. I’d also quite like slow cooker and a yoghurt maker. However, I have a small kitchen and don’t have room for all that equipment so something that will do everything I want in one machine is a good thing for me. I’ve not bought one yet but it’s on my wishlist.

Vegan Food and Living

Vegan Food and Living magazine

This month I bought Vegan Food and Living magazine. The first issue only came out in January this year and it is great to have two magazines (the other being Vegan Life) that are dedicated to veganism and are available in mainstream shops. I bought both magazines in my local WH Smiths (a UK wide newsagent for my overseas readers) and I’ve been told they are both available in major UK supermarkets.

Vegan Food and Living is focused more on food. Vegan Life does have recipes but has a lot more news, debates and interviews. Both are excellent magazines and I think complement each other in what they offer.

I have no idea why I’ve not seen any of Lev’s Northern Soul Girl Dancing YouTube videos before. Dancing, dancing in unusual places, dancing to good music and dancing with a smile. How can you not feel happy whilst watching these videos?

Did you try anything new in March?

Do you have an Instant Pot, would you recommend one?
