Manors and Stiches

Weekly round up

This was the first week of my half marathon training. I’m using the plan in the “Beginner’s Half-Marathon Trainer: The 14-Week Program to Completing a Half-Marathon in Your Best Time” by Jon Ackland and for the first week I am supposed to to three 20 minute easy running sessions.

Well I started this all wrong by running the Waddesdon Manor 5k race. I did that in just over 28 minutes, so nearly 20 minutes but not easy!

My second run was just as described, an easy 20 minutes to do 1.83 miles.

The third run of the week wasn’t so easy. I still did 20 minutes and just made it to 1.8 miles. However, I thought it would be a good idea to get out running as soon as I finished my morning cup of tea so I could beat the heat. Not such a good idea. As soon as I started running I could hear the tea sloshing around and before 10 minutes had passed I had a really bad stitch.

So lesson learnt. No running after tea!

Highlight of the week: running in Waddesdon Manor.
