A strange thing has started to happen to me, I’ve started to think I might want to run a marathon.
Up until a few weeks ago I thought that a marathon just wasn’t something I would ever want to do. I didn’t think I would want to train that hard or that often. 26.2 miles just seems an awfully long way to run.
But then something happened. I blame reading Vegan Fitness and Georgie’s inspiring posts on her goal to reach a sub 3.05 marathon. And Bethan’s writing on A Pretty Place to Play on how she fitted training for her first marathon around a hectic work schedule. I also blame all those on #ukrunchat for posting race results and tweeting about the mix of excitement and nerves they had before the big day, no matter if it was their first or their 20th marathon.
All this has got me thinking. Maybe I do want to run a marathon, maybe I could fit the training into my life, maybe I would actually enjoy it.
Does this happen to all runners? Or do most people have a vague idea that running a marathon is something they will do at some point? I’d love to know!
