When I first started running I didn’t know anyone else who ran. It was just me and my Couch to 5k programme.
It was when I started searching for tips on running that I stumbled across The Running Bug. The Running Bug is a huge website for runners. It contains training plans, advice on nutrition and injuries, a great forum where you can ask any question and get an answer, and is full of very friendly and encouraging fellow runners.
In addition to this they have a ‘BugMiles’ feature where you can log your run with both time and distance and comment on how you felt it went. This feature means I know that since February when I logged my first run (just 4 weeks into running) I have run 64 times with a total distance of 246 miles! Not bad going.
Almost every time you log your miles you will get a comment from a fellow ‘Bug’ encouraging you, offering advice or even just saying ‘well done’. It really makes you feel part of a community of runners, even if it is virtually.
The Running Bug has both beginners and more experienced runners as members which makes it a really fun community. No matter what level you are there is plenty of opportunity for you to learn new things and help others.
So if you aren’t a member I’d recommend you joining and when you do don’t forget to add me as a friend, Miss Roulette!
